1.1 Trading methods
The buyer and the seller sign the terms: EXW/FCA/FOB/CNF/CIF/DDU/DDP. This trade term is a specialized term used to determine issues such as the division of risks, responsibilities, and costs between buyers and sellers.
Cost composition: value of goods, land transportation, customs declaration, port, sea/air/international land transportation, insurance, customs clearance, customs duties.
1) The factory generally prefers to quote the EXW price
All transportation after leaving the factory will be completed by the customer
2) Industry and trade integrated enterprises and most foreign trade companies like to quote FOB prices
After offshore from the Chinese port, the follow-up is handed over to the customer to complete
3) If the customer cannot complete the customs clearance, he can also ask the DDU/DDP price
The seller delivers the goods to the customer’s door. The price is relatively high, but the most convenient.
1.2 Import process
1) Note that large quantities of goods are best transported on pallets. Warehouse port handling charges will be much less.
2) When LCL, the total weight of a single carton of goods should be less than 22kg. When manual handling is required, no additional overweight handling fee is required.
3) The goods will be wrapped with plastic film inside and outside the factory. The risk of moisture exposure by sea has been greatly reduced. Just buy basic insurance.
4) For countries that have preferential tariffs with China, when handling import customs clearance, we can apply for a certificate of origin to reduce or exempt some tariffs.
2.Shipping
A detailed comparison of express logistics has been made in Section 6 of Transportation in “7 major precautions for ordering printing cards in China“. Here are some additions.
Card game products are heavy goods. For bulk shipments, sea and land shipments are more commonly used. For special emergencies, air transportation is optional.
2.1 European countries can complete transportation by China-Europe railway trains and sea freight.
The China Railway Express connects 185 cities in 23 European countries. The time limit is generally about 30 working days, and it can be transported from China to the destination country. 3-5 working days to complete the delivery. At present, the China-Europe freight train has been running smoothly for 11 years.
Sea shipping still has to reach Europe through the Strait of Malacca, the Red Sea, and the Suez Canal. And then directly transported by rail to the hinterland of Europe. The time limit is generally around 35 working days. Easily affected by monsoon weather. In the case of LCL, the shipping cost will be about 7% lower than the railway transportation cost.
2.2 Middle East countries can be transported by sea and land.
The larger the capacity, the cheaper the cost. The time limit is about 25 working days. The land transportation line is the most cost-effective, and the transportation time is 15-25 days.
2.3 North American countries complete the transportation by sea.
There are three shipping methods to choose from.
1) Heavy cargo line, 2) Ordinary clipper, 3) Mason limited-time and fixed-time delivery.
The price of the three methods increases gradually, and the delivery time decreases gradually. The transportation time of the heavy cargo line is 35-40 days, and the price is the lowest. Ordinary clippers can reach the West Coast of the United States in about 30 days. Matson limited-time delivery and fixed-time delivery can be shipped to West Coast ports within 15 days at the earliest. Delivery to door can be completed within 3 days. If the agreed time is exceeded, the freight will be returned for the owner every day.
3.Delivery to door
After the goods arrive at the port for customs clearance, they are handed over to the local logistics company at the destination port for delivery.
